Day 1: Mumbai - Aurangabad
Morning post breakfast, transfer to railway station to board Tapovan Express train to Aurangabad. Upon arrival our tour representative will greet you and facilitate your transfer to a hotel. Rest for a while and set out to visit the famous 'Bibi ka Maqbara' also called the Taj of Deccan. You can also go for some antique shopping from the local markets in the evening. Evening return to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
Day 2: Aurangabad
Morning post breakfast leave for some more site seeing of the city. Watch the famous Panchakki, the water mill of Mughal Era. Later set out to see the famous Aurangabad Caves. Set in a valley between the hill ranges of Sihyachal and Satara, the magnificent caves were excavated along the hillside during 2nd and 5th century AD near Aurangabad. Tantric influences can be apparently seen in the architecture of the caves. The caves showcases the architectural brilliance of the past centuries. Evening return to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
Day 3: Aurangabad
After breakfast leave to see the 12th century old Daulatabad fort built by king Bhillama of Yadav dynasty. The fort is an enchanting site for travelers and an architectural marvel of the bygone centuries. You can also go to Khuldabad to behold the shrines of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, his son and the revered saints of the Mughal era - Burhan-ud-din and Zain-ud-din. In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
Day 4: Aurangabad - Ellora caves
Morning post breakfast, leave to explore the transfixing beauty of the Ellora Caves. Visit the centuries old amalgam of three distinct religions - Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Behold the creation of the 34 remarkable caves out of which there are 12 Buddhist Caves, 17 Hindu caves and 5 Jain caves. The carved sculptures inside the caves, made using hammer and chisel are the witness of architectural brilliance in the past centuries. Also visit the world famous Kailash temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Evening return to hotel for dinner and night stay.
Day 5: Aurangabad - Ajanta Caves - Mumbai
Early morning post breakfast leave for Ajanta Caves. The 2nd century B.C. caves will completely mesmerize you. Placed deep inside the Sahyadri hills the caves are an architectural marvel of the bygone era. The 30 caves depict the story of Lord Buddha, Bodhisattva (followers of Buddhism), the tales of Jatakas and Buddhism religion that prevailed here during this era. The paintings and sculptures inside the caves are simply outstanding and worth watching. Familiarize yourself with the Buddhists Chaitya Grihas, Monasteries and also behold the Greek and Roman compositions and proportions. Late in the evening after dinner transfer to railway station to board Devgiri Express at 11:25 pm to return to Mumbai.
